Yo Ho Yo Ho a Pirates life for me

In 2024 we will bring a Disneyland classic to our front yard haunt. Some of my favorite scenes will be re-created, the pirate ship, the talking skull and the jail scene in the burning city. This year I bring elements from all my previous Halloween builds to bring Pirates of the Caribbean to life for Trick-or-Treaters.

Making the Waiting room from Beetlejuice

In 2023 the classic movie came to life in our front yard. Some of the most memorable scenes from the movie are the graveyard from the model that Beetlejuice comes out of, and the waiting room for the dead when Barbara and Adam seek help in the afterlife.

Just a Bunch of Hocus Pocus

2021 was just a bunch of Hocus Pocus at our house. We took the Sanderson Sister’s house from one of our favorite movies and made it a reality. In part one of the videos below, see how I build the witch house facade. In part two, watch me assemble it in the front yard, and add all the accessories and details to make it look great.

Fun, but lots of hard work

In 2021, by special request, I built a replica of the Sanderson Sister House from Hocus Pocus. This movie has been a family favorite, and my daughter asked if we could do a Hocus Pocus theme this year. Every weekend since the 4th of July, and most week nights have been spent working to make it a reality.

Two Years ago we built an Old West Ghost town

Halloween Night

The old west ghost town comes alive on Halloween Night 2022. When I was a kid, I remember the houses that went all out on Halloween, that inspired me to create my own DIY Halloween decorations. I hope my displays will make an impression on the kids that come and trick-or-treat at my house. Halloween is a fun time for the community to come together unlike any other night of the year.

DIY

Ghost town.

Watch how I built a ghost town General Store and Jail in my front yard for this Halloween. Also this year, we are doing something I’ve always wanted to do, a small walk through for Trick-or-Treaters! My daughter wanted to make the General Store into a haunted house walk through, and helped design and build it. She also had the idea to put a grave digging skeleton in the grave yard this year, I’m happy to see the next generation carrying on the Halloween traditions. I hope everyone enjoys it on Halloween night.

Every Ghost Town needs a Jail

This year we are adding to our old west ghost town. Two years ago I build my first Halloween facade, it was a ghost town general store with rooms for rent on the second story. We had problems with the occupants trying to escape. I think the jail will be a good addition to town, and will be the beginning of a town square with a fountain in the middle.

Ghost Town General Store and Hotel

Starting during 2020 lock downs, I was inspired to build my most ambitious project yet, a haunted hotel facade. This featured a candy delivery system for social distancing, and it was fun too. The hotel had a drain spout with a green glow. When children knocked and said Trick or Treat, candy would drop into their bags.

The Halloween and harvest season is my favorite time of year. I’ve decorated my house every year since I was a kid. Now, I always try to make the house a fun destination for trick-or-treaters.
